Message from the Principal
Dear Walnut Avenue School Families,
As we enter December and look ahead to the start of the 2026 calendar year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable first few months of the 2025–2026 school year at Walnut Avenue School. Our students have already grown so much—academically, socially, and emotionally—and it has been a joy to see their excitement for learning each day.
During the fall, our classrooms were filled with curiosity, exploration, and hands-on discovery. From our youngest preschool learners to our energetic second graders, students have been building strong foundations while engaging in meaningful learning experiences thoughtfully crafted by our dedicated staff. As we transition into winter, we look forward to continuing this momentum with new units of study, collaborative projects, and opportunities that spark creativity and critical thinking.
Our commitment to the whole child remains central to our work at WAS. Through our ongoing social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, students continue developing skills in kindness, empathy, inclusion, and respect. These lessons—paired with daily interactions and community-building activities—help ensure that every child feels supported, valued, and connected within our school community.
We also appreciate your partnership in staying engaged with school happenings. My weekly Friday emails, our PTA’s helpful weekly newsletter, and your child’s teacher communications all work together to strengthen the home–school connection. Your involvement—whether by attending events, reading classroom updates, or talking with your child about their school day—has a meaningful impact on their success.
As 2025 comes to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued trust and collaboration. I am incredibly proud of the work happening at Walnut Avenue School and excited for all that lies ahead in the new year. Together, we will continue creating joyful learning experiences, fostering new friendships, and supporting each child’s growth.
Wishing you a warm and wonderful holiday season and a happy start to 2026!
